In partnership with Sunbeams Community Hub Great Yarmouth
Our aim is to understand your family so we can apply the SPELL Framework and advise you on which of your strengths you could build on. To do this, we want to get to know you and 'walk a mile' with you.
1. We will visit your family for up to 90 minutes, six times in a period of around two months (roughly once a week). During our visits, we will observe how your family works - we are there to focus on your strengths and to build on these.
2. Following our visits, we will sit down with the adult(s) in your family during one last visit and highlight all your family's strengths and positive strategies to build on.
3. We will bring a toolkit (which we like to call your family's 'manual') on how your family might be able to build on your strengths. This 'manual' is based on the SPELL Framework, which was developed by the National Autistic Society as a toolkit to help families understand and respond to the needs of a neurodivergent child. This framework recognises the individual and unique needs of each child in the context of family life and dynamics.
Each visit is unique to your family, we will fit in around you - you don't need to change anything just because we're there. This may mean we might go for a walk, play games, watch TV - whatever you would be doing if we weren't there.
Our aim is not to change your family and we're absolutely not there to interfere with your parenting. We offer an outside perspective on what works really well in your family and how we could expand this with the SPELL Framework in mind.
During our visits, we would like to meet each child at least once if at all possible. However, our work is with you as parent(s) / carer(s) as you are your family's expert. We will of course include the needs of all children in your family and tailor your SPELL toolkit to your individual family dynamics.
Please get in touch with us and we will advise you on our referral service.
Yes! We're very happy to have a 30-minute online chat with you, where you can explain your family life & dynamics, talk about your concerns, and ask questions regarding our service.
